The future of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: established facts and new pathways

By

Dear colleagues, friends, and young specialists, I am pleased to announce my participation in the SIP NextGeneration3: The Avantgarde of Respiratory Medicine conference, a crucial event that the Italian Society of Pulmonology (SIP) is dedicating to the professionals of today and, above all, tomorrow.

The event will be held in Rome, at The Building Hotel, from December 11 to 13, 2025.

In an era of rapid progress, it is essential that young pulmonologists have the opportunity to engage with experts on issues that will redefine our discipline. For this reason, I consider this congress a cornerstone of national training.

My contribution will focus in particular on Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), an area of pulmonology that has seen significant developments in recent years and to which I am now a devoted follower.

On Friday, December 12, in Session 4, dedicated to Rare Diseases and Pulmonary Interstitial Diseases, I will give a presentation entitled: “Certainties and new evidence for the treatment of IPF”.

The session, moderated by colleagues P. Cameli and G. Monteleone, will also address the framework and optimization of the treatment of Progressive Pulmonary Fibrosis (PPF), discussed by C. Tirelli.

We will discuss the therapeutic pillars that now represent a certainty in the management of IPF, which are fundamental for slowing the progression of the disease and preserving patients' quality of life. But we will not stop there: the goal is to explore the new evidence emerging from research, analyzing how this can soon be translated into new clinical strategies.

I invite all specialists, especially young pulmonologists, to participate in this opportunity for discussion.

I hope to see you in Rome to contribute together to shaping the future of respiratory medicine.
